How It Works
Your Claim in Four Steps
You give us the details once. We handle the insurer.
- 1
Send us your details
Book online or send a quote request with your insurer's name, your rego and a photo of the damage. A policy or claim number helps if you have one.
- 2
We lodge the claim
We contact your insurer, lodge the claim and get their approval. Approval is needed before any work starts.
- 3
We book you in
Once it's approved, we arrange a time that suits you, usually within a day or two depending on glass availability.
- 4
We fix it where you are
We repair or replace the glass at your home or work, arrange any ADAS calibration, and clean up your car afterwards.

Good to Know
Repair or Replace on Insurance
Insurers prefer a repair when it's possible, because it's quicker and costs less. Chips up to the size of a NZ $1 coin can usually be fixed with a windscreen chip repair, as long as they're outside the driver's direct line of sight.
If a chip is bigger than a $1 coin, a crack is longer than about 15cm (6 inches) or reaches the edge, or the damage sits in the driver's line of sight, you'll need a windscreen replacement. Cars with lane assist or auto braking also need ADAS calibration afterwards, which we arrange as part of the claim.

Questions
Windscreen Insurance FAQs
Who lodges the insurance claim?
We do. Give us your insurer's details and we'll lodge the claim and deal with them directly, so there's no back-and-forth for you.
Do I have to pay an excess?
In most cases, no. Many policies have no excess for glass claims, and we'll let you know before we start if there's anything to pay.
Which insurers do you work with?
All New Zealand insurers. If we haven't worked with your insurer before, we simply call them and lodge the claim.
My insurer recommended another company. Can I still use HQ Windscreens?
Yes. It's your choice who repairs your windscreen, and you can ask for HQ Windscreens Tauranga even if your insurer suggests someone else.
Do you need my insurer's approval before starting?
Yes. We get approval from your insurer before any work begins, so you know the job is covered.
What happens if my claim is declined?
You can choose to go ahead and pay for the work yourself, or not go ahead at all. See our windscreen repair costs page for prices.
Will a glass claim affect my no-claims bonus?
With many policies a windscreen claim doesn't affect your no-claims bonus, but it depends on your insurer and policy. Check your policy schedule or ask your insurer if you're unsure.
